Reply to thread: Hot topic Selling kandi?? [Go to page: 1, 2, 3]
It's not new. They've been selling it (on and off) for years, but it's not really kandi. It's just pony bead bracelets.

http://3dbeading.com/ A lot of the stuff on here looks better with seed beads like those, than with pony beads- and you can challenge yourself with new, different things!

Reply to thread: So not to be mean, but kandi is part of the rave culture. That being said how can u make "kandi" but not rave? [Go to page: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]
I hope I don't sound rude but I seriously don't understand these type of questions. I totally respect the fact that kandi originated at raves and such, and the majority of kandi people rave, but do you really have to rave to make these beaded creations? Pony bead companies were originally aiming at little kids to make beaded creations, & it seems nearly crazy to most adults for an elementary school child to attend a rave, even if it's an underground one for all ages for some reason. I'm not saying that only younger kids can make "kandi". But honestly, when I was getting into, "kandi" I thought the original purpose was simply about PLUR, hardly the being-to-a-rave thing. But I guess there is a connection since you can make several friends at raves by trading. & when I (surprisingly) see people wearing kandi in my area, I usually ***ume it was given to them. I give beaded creations to my friends all the time & they don't rave because of my original thought of "kandi".

I was searching for stuff to make with pony beads I had bought and I stumbled upon here. Ever since I've been in love with it before I knew about the raving or PLUR or any of that.

Reply to thread: pony bead tubs is there a diffrence
OMG I noticed that too! Its why I never bought anymore pony beads from Wal-Mart. All the yellow beads just seem faded and I don't like the look of them. They used to be more vibrant though.

Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson, One Direction (you can find things from the last three at Claires) I've seen Kandi before with those little squinkies things on them (I think that's what they're called... ) Or as one other person suggested, have her make it with you

Reply to thread: a three parter
I LOVE my anime, the only shows I watch...besides Invader Zim and My Little Pony. Animated shows from Japan are anime...but you can get English Subbed or English Dubbed (same goes for any other language). But animated shows in the US are either cartoons..,or if they are anime shows but the character speak English, that's English Dubbed anime (Subbed being that the characters speak Japanese but there are English subtitles). I do consider Pokemon to be an anime...mainly because it's drawn in an anime/manga style. It's just very very popular, so I think that they milk it's popularity and keep it going for ages. But it's really the opinion of the viewer as to whether they think that it's an anime or a cartoon. But I do watch it online in Japanese so that makes it appear more anime-ish to me. I hope this helps =^.^=

I got a tub and a few packs (white, red, and black) of pony beads all from walmart, I noticed the white was a bit darker in the tub, as well as the red seeming more orange-ish. It's slightly noticeable when you mix them in a cuff. It's not just you OxO

Reply to thread: can you make a kandi tail?
I started on a rainbow tail for my Halloween costume. I'm going as Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony. It was SUPER EASY! I just made a bunch of multi in diff colors of her tail and put them all together at one end.

Reply to thread: Hot Topic changed their "kandi" from bracelets to kits. [Go to page: 1, 2]
I think this is a lot better than selling their pony bead bracelets. In fact, I might go try one of these out even though they're probably over priced just for the hell of it. I see nothing wrong it with it.

Reply to thread: what got you into making your First kandi?
My Jewelry class I took my senior year at high school. This was a few years ago. But see, my Jewelry teacher gave me a button that was shaped like the Little Twin Stars and she said "This reminds me of you. I think you could make something really nice with it" and I thought the button was the cutest thing! So I made a cute single with it using other colorful beads. Later on, I was looking at other 'pony bead' crafts online and I saw how alot of them were called 'kandi' and they resembled my pieces! OuO So from there I made cuffs, peyotes, and necklaces along with singles. n__n I read more about kandi, plur, and raves and though I can't rave, I respect kandi so much. :3
