Well it is called "hot topic". If a lot of people are talking about kandi then they'll sell it (of course). Hot Topic used to be a store that selled stereotype clothing (such as gothic). But now all they do is go with what's hot. I've heard of them selling kandi a lot of times. I'm not too happy with it either. I'd rather make kandi that's plur(r) and trade it to someone else rather than buy a bracelet that has nothing special put into it. All hot topic wants is money and they'll sell it to get what they want. Sadly us kandi kids and kandi ravers can't do anything about it. All we can do is just move on and forget about hot topic. Stay plur(r)! love struck

It just kind of makes me mad, and a little uneasy. other people don't see kandi as something really special, they dont see it as a bond or a friendship bracelet at all. They see it as cool art, a craft(which it is, but thats not what its all about) My friends dont get it at all, they always try to get me to start some buisness out of it, but thats not something I'm into. When people at school want me to make them something, they always offer me like $5 or they ask me "how much?" and I just say "Im not going to make you pay me for making this for you, beads aren't too expensive anyhow" and they usually just shrug and say thanks. It makes me feel good to just make something for someone, I dont particularly need the money and if I did, i'd find some other way of doing it.

I'm so over places selling.

Like, you know once things go out of style, or just no one buys them [for countless reasons]- they get moved to the sale rack and never come back?

That's what's going to happen eventually. The bracelets that Hot Topic has are of such poor quality, I don't know why people buy them in the first place [values of buying kandi aside].

Their beaded jewelry is the quality of a yarn bracelet that is all frayed and pulled apart or a shirt that has a ton of holes in it and they're trying to sell it. It makes no sense to buy it. I don't know about you guys, but I like buying good quality stuff.

Anyways, with Spencer's selling, Ginger's right: at least it looks better. Like, actual kandi.

But the only thing people can do next to complaining and getting bent out of shape about it is to just not buy it.

I don't see people making this much of a commotion over all of the sellers on Etsy and other various individuals other places. People only attack Hot Topic and Spencer's [other companies] and I wonder the logic behind leaving the individuals alone?

A few months ago I was at Hot Topic with a friend and saw a girl looking at a Mustache "Kandi" Cuff. She said to her friend "This Kandi cuff is soo cute!" It kind of made me sad so I walked over and took the cuff out of her hand and said "THIS is NOT Kandi." I then took off a cuff on my arm that Was EXACTLY the same as the one she was holding and gave it to her. She was so happy she hugged me and thanked me a million times. She asked me what the difference was between the two. I told her "Kandi is made by a person out of love and friendship and given to someone for the same reason." The best part was I saw her again a few days ago at the mall and went up to her to say Hi and I saw her arms covered in Kandi. She told me she started making Kandi and trading with other Kandi kids and giving some away. She gave me a cuff that said "Magic" And I haven't taken it off since xP

Someone told me a few kandi kids stood outside Hot Topic with a bowl of singles and handed them out for free to everyone who was going in the store, telling them not to buy the "kandi" they were selling inside.

Spencers is too, It all looks like brakeable Crud, to me. It makes me sick How many times I have parents come up to me at my job and say, " oh my kid loves wearing those what store did you buy them at?"

spencers and calirs also sell it now. Spencers "kandi" looks a hell of a lot better than hottopic's sad attempt. I don't like it either but there's not much we can do except not buy it.

unfortunately I didn't see the kids myself, I came in right after it happened and just saw him picking up beads lol. but if I had been there for that I'd have a few words to say to them. I completely agree Crumpet.
