If you have some eye or head pins, jump rings, round nose pliers, and some type of clasp you can make a single or an anklet. It deviates from the usual pony bead+elastic cord. At least I think it does anyway. I hope I helped some what. kao mad

I occasionally sell but I don't call it kandi I just call them pony bead cuffs or beaded cuffs. And I don't sell them for a whole lot really, my price is by height, like if its 3 beads tall ill sell it for $2-3 whether its 34 around or 28 around. And I put the money I get back towards buying more supplies

I like to sort my beads but you don't necessarily have to. That's just a preference thing. I get a little overboard on my sorting but in the end it makes me feel better and I know where everything is. I will even organize my tubs of bead mixes from Wal-Mart. I don't really care too much about sorting by color when I organize my bead mixes, it's about shape and similarities beads share. Then when I get to the beads that don't apply to any other beads I sorted, I put them in a baggie labeled 'Miscellaneous'. Then I use the tub for pony beads I have a lot of in one color. When I run out of traditional storage, there's ziploc baggies, gl*** bottles, and I just recently asked my mother for an empty tissue box. I'm going to decorate it a little and then put some my baggies in it since they're starting to burst of of a box I keep them in. What I have is an organized mess.

1. I don't really have a favorite piece, but I like the My Little Pony things that I've made. 2. I don't care if people sell kandi, I've actually been trying to get into selling it myself. 3. Cotton Candy Pink. 4. The Offspring, Nirvana, Three Days Grace, Daft Punk 5. No. 6. Almost one year. 7. Yes.

XxstaciaskittlezxX is right about there being large bead sets at Joanns. They have brown and a something that looks flesh toned. I have also found them at Wal-Mart. (Of course, it depends how well your Wal-Mart keeps their beading supplies stocked.) If you have the ability to buy supplies over the internet, go to ponybeadstore.com. They boast about how they have 140/150 colors of pony beads.

Reply to thread: Kandi as wedding favors?

I think this is an excellent idea, not only does it fit the theme of the wedding but it brings a personal touch of the couple to each guest attending! Might I recommend Halloween themed single bracelets though as well as key chains? They have excellent Halloween themed pony beads on the net!

Once I was at school and I was wearing a really long cuff that took me at least a week to make and was made of mini pony beads, but that's besides the point. Anyway a really jerky kid (who hates me(vice versa)) came up to me with a ruler and put it under the cuff and before I could do anything he pulled on it and the whole thing exploded. Everyone just stared at me and I broke into tears because I really loved that cuff. P.S I was the one who got in trouble for the incident, not the person who caused it.

The best place to get beads in my opinion is from Pony Beads & More. They have everything from letter & number beads, to string, to fun charms, to individual colors (and trust me, there's plenty of colors). They have opaque, frosted, glitter, glow, metallic, any kind of beads you could imagine. It's only $2.50 for 500 beads. That's a steal. Plus the shipping isn't too bad and I got all my beads relatively quickly. I totally recommend it, if you don't mind buying things online. www.ponybeadstore.com

Reply to thread: Kandi a Trend?

Jul 14, 2013 9:15 pm
"Crumpet": I wouldn't say that kandi is a trend because it has been around for a while. Its popularity does fluctuate though and for many people it's just a "phase" that they outgrow. I agree with Crumpet. I’ve had people comment on my videos [after being gone for a little while] that they had stopped making kandi or aren’t interested in it anymore. It mostly depends on the person and how they perceive it/what it is to them. Someone had asked me a while ago: “What are your thoughts on: stop making kandi because you're ‘growing up’?” [I kind of see that like the question you're asking as a trend] And I replied to them: "I see the ones who stop making it or lose interest in it [quickly after picking it up] are the ones who making kandi was only a phase and a desperate attempt to get attention. Once they realize they have failed their goal of receiving said attention, they stop. Why continue doing something over and over that fails expecting something else to happen? That’s the definition of ‘insanity.’ To them it was just a fashion statement and they didn’t look at the craft beyond that." I don’t think kandi [as a whole] is so much a trend as opposed to trends getting tied into kandi. Like I look at what’s popular now, things like: Zelda, Dr. Who, My Little Pony, etc... Yeah, that stuff was popular before, but it sort of has been thrust into this limelight now and pretty much everyone wants a piece of it [applied to their work]. I don’t really know where my answer went with this, but I hope someone can sort of understand what I’m saying--

I'm with Jo Jo here. Pony Beads & More (www.ponybeadstore.com) is AMAZING and has every color you could possibly think of. Metallic, glitter, frosted, neon, glow-in-the-dark, clear, pearl, you name it. It's dirt cheap, too. $2.50 for 500 beads? Who wouldn't go for it?? I bought 15 bags of beads and 1 spool of string (100 meters, or 320 feet) and with shipping, it was only $65. That's 7,500 beads for practically nothing! And I got my order in a week. That's pretty good if you ask me. happy If you don't mind ordering online, go for it! It's awesome!

Jesterrox is right. You're best bet if you want your panel to come out straight and flat, buy pony beads of the same brand or beads that come the same container. I hope this was a a little helpful.

Reply to thread: Buy in Bulk or in bits?

Aug 12, 2013 11:29 am
Perlers I always buy in bulk from the perler website. spend 60 bucks get free shipping. Sometimes they have extra good deals too. But when you buy in bulk there the price drops a little on 1,000 count bead bags. from $2 something to $1 something. That's worth it to me since I haaaaaaate running out mid project. Pony beads tho I'm still finding the best places to go... My Walmart is ALWAYS picked over sad lol
