"Crumpet": I wouldn't say that kandi is a trend because it has been around for a while. Its popularity does fluctuate though and for many people it's just a "phase" that they outgrow. I agree with Crumpet. I’ve had people comment on my videos [after being gone for a little while] that they had stopped making kandi or aren’t interested in it anymore. It mostly depends on the person and how they perceive it/what it is to them. Someone had asked me a while ago: “What are your thoughts on: stop making kandi because you're ‘growing up’?” [I kind of see that like the question you're asking as a trend] And I replied to them: "I see the ones who stop making it or lose interest in it [quickly after picking it up] are the ones who making kandi was only a phase and a desperate attempt to get attention. Once they realize they have failed their goal of receiving said attention, they stop. Why continue doing something over and over that fails expecting something else to happen? That’s the definition of ‘insanity.’ To them it was just a fashion statement and they didn’t look at the craft beyond that." I don’t think kandi [as a whole] is so much a trend as opposed to trends getting tied into kandi. Like I look at what’s popular now, things like: Zelda, Dr. Who, My Little Pony, etc... Yeah, that stuff was popular before, but it sort of has been thrust into this limelight now and pretty much everyone wants a piece of it [applied to their work]. I don’t really know where my answer went with this, but I hope someone can sort of understand what I’m saying--

I hope it's not a trend! D: I started making kandi almost 4 years ago and I don't want to stop for a long time. See, I like to make kandi inspired by my favorite fandoms and I'll continue making kandi for each new fandom I get into so it's kinda hard for me to stop anyway. xD Like, people can wear kandi however they want because you can't just look at person wearing kandi and know everything about them. everyone has their own reason for making kandi. And I hope to think that every kandi means alot to a person, even if it's as simple as it makes them feel happy for wearing it. :3

It can be a trend for certain individuals or groups but as a thing it is not a trend, definitely in the rave scene its forever, kandi has been around in the rave scene for many many years, and I think it will continue to do so, other rave fashions may come and go but there are always kandi kids, or even just a little kandi on some people.

It all depends on the person making the Kandi really, is it a past time, a hobby, a way of expressing yourself? If you tie trends into it or things you like well that is all just a way of appealing to other crowds but it doesn't really have anything to do with trend fallowing or trend setting for that matter. If its a art form and passion or just a summer hobby its all in the hands of the person creating the form. So what others think is rather irrelevant on the subject, because they can not think for you they can only express their opinion, and that isn't a crime in itself. Just let them know they don't understand anything from your perspective.

sad I am over the school years thing and I totally miss summer breaks!!! Work doesn't have that sort of thing just weekly vacation once a year (all I get at the moment). crying

Oh goodness, people are ridiculous! I don't understand why people have to bug others about their kandi. No, I don't think kandi is just a fad, or a trend. It means a lot more to me than that. If your brother keeps ragging on you about it, I do hope you set him straight. Anyway, my summer is good. I had hoped I would've been packed up and out of this place already, but I won't be moving until August. So, I've just been reading and writing a lot.

i dont think its a trend, the only people who say that are people who only listen to and follow stereotypes. My summer is fine but i do wish i was home.
