feeling childish for my interests :[

does anyone else have interests that you feel ashamed for or embarrassed about because other people treat them as childish or silly? im really interested in sharks, fortnite, and overwatch, but im often laughed at for these interests because people either think im joking when i say I like them or they think its silly :[

dude i adore my little pony, centaurworld, and other more "childish" shows nd stuff and people give me so much shit for it. and for what??? especially centaurworld, people take one look at the art style and the music and some of the comedy style and go "fuck no". it sucks -_- just wanna talk about my funny horse shows.

@Strawberry_BroStrider: ive never seen centaurworld personally but that's a shame that people act that way to you :[ it seems like a really fun show! some people just can't let others enjoy things,,, I swear

eughhh yeah, i got into kingdom hearts recently (the novels mainly, i swear im gonna play the games someday) and (now that im going to an in-person school where people can actually perceive me and my thoughts and actions, oh no!!! /hj) im kinda worried im gonna inevitably get mocked for liking it bc it's technically a disney franchise and disney = childish to lots of people so :/

@junatehrobot: agh I understand :[[[ I hope you find good people at your school that respect your interest[s] and won't judge you/gen! at my school personally there aren't many like that, but im grateful for the people ive met who are, and who won't make fun of me

there's no such thing as having """childish interests""" that was just created by ableists /hj /nsrs but kinda serious

literally just like what you like !!! i'm 19 and a half and i still watch pbs kids, i still hoard stuffed animals, i still watch spongebob and other cartoon network / nickelodeon shows.

We have a bad obsession with cartoons, plushies, comic books, and sometimes we sleep with a lamp on. We don't see them as "childish" but we never tell anyone irl because we're both scared of get laughed at //andie and leo
