calling people posers is so lame

i am literally so sick and tired of hearing people throw around the word poser and honestly whenever i hear someone use it, i try and steer clear of them. like whats the point in gatekeeping things that make someone happy?? (obviously unless someone is being hateful but yk thats a given)

like if someone only listens to a popular emo bands, they're still emo. it doesnt discredit them and it makes no sense how it could??

but idk maybe im misunderstanding something, pls tell me if i am

Most of the people accusing someone of being a poser is just someone grasping for straws to validate themselves. A lot of the time peopel won't even have said they're apart of any subculture but still get called a poser, which is... Ironic.

I do think that some subcultures should be gatekept, in a way. Because some of them are either very music, style or politics based, and there's no reason to call yourself apart of it if you don't fit those "requirements", but extremely few times are people called out for valid reasons.

Sometimes, people really just need to chill out and let others be happy, however.

when i say "posers" i mean the white arson bunny hat kids w a pink mullet n jazmin bean makeup frolicking around on tiktok to sodikken n r obsessed w frogs n monster n say shit like "yeah im punk, jus because i dont listen to punk doesnt mean im not" n will try n "educate" ppl on their twisted view of "real punk!!1" n then will turn around n be anti acab or say sum "all lives matter!1!1!1!" bullshit

thats what i mean when i say posers n yes there is a user exactly like that on tiktok i dont remember their user tho but its honestly hilarious, pretty sure that specific user is a racist too but that may b sum other poser
