calling people posers is so lame

i am literally so sick and tired of hearing people throw around the word poser and honestly whenever i hear someone use it, i try and steer clear of them. like whats the point in gatekeeping things that make someone happy?? (obviously unless someone is being hateful but yk thats a given)

like if someone only listens to a popular emo bands, they're still emo. it doesnt discredit them and it makes no sense how it could??

but idk maybe im misunderstanding something, pls tell me if i am

Scene isn't a music based subculture, that's why calling any person considering themself 'scenecore' can't really be.. a poser? it's the PLUR mindset(which I must note, I feel is lacking in this thread) and so on

Anyway: poser is a silly term and people who use it are silly

ipeople r posers when they call themselvs "scenecore", have a invader zim pfp just bc they think it makes them scene, buy all there kandi and do everything possible to make themselvs be scene without even knowing scene music and thinking its an aesthetic. OR when they think that drinking monster makes them emo or some dumb shit like that, without even knowing what emo rlly is

like if your a punk, Idc if you only listen to popular punk music bc its popular so listen to it you do you, but being racist and shit when your a punk is what would be called a poser. These white girls at my school fr think there "Alt" and stuff for wearing bracelets they bought at claires. They are homophobic and will obvi never be accepted into the kandi community.

I dont go out of my way to call people posers, i tell people who want to, for example be scene, how to actually be scene rather than being called a poser

agreed !! i get called a poser sometimes just because i'm brand new to thrash and black metal so i don't know many bands, let alone name a lot off the top of my head. it's annoying. plus, people who call other fans posers for liking their most popular songs is just so weird to me, like it's literally their biggest song FOR A REASON ??????
