Question for otherkin.

I myself am a therian, however I don't completely understand the few that may be considered otherkin. (I may be using this wrong, however I didn't search a ton of stuff up so I usually use this term.) The few otherkin that identify as mythical creatures.. what exactly made you think so? And how does it even work, to be so connected to a creature that isn't even real??

(This is not hate, I'm just genuinely curious!!!)

I'm autistic, and for me it's always made me feel like I've got "powers" or that I am "not human". I call myself otherkin (part tree, part witch) as a way to explain those feelings of being different.
