About KOSA: KOSA or the kids online safety act is a bill planned to pass in September, yes September, it may sound good but really is not, currently it is in the US, but this will effect websites worldwide, it is a mass censorship bill that plans to censor anything the government sees as ‘harmful’, ex. Explicit content, possibly horror movies, lgbtq content, mental health awareness content, basically if there’s anything the US hates, it will be gone. Parents will also be able to see search histories of their children, and be able to see EVERYTHING they say and do online. This will make self h@rm and sewerslide rates go up, and make childrens mental health worse. This bill has been declined in both 2020 and 2021, if we did it twice we can do it again

Dr. J and omarsbigsister on TikTok have more info, Dr. J posts more updates than omarsbigsister, but do NOT constantly ask for updates. As someone who sees it everywhere it’s even annoying to me, imagine having your comments filled with ‘any updates on ___?’ it would be annoying, so don’t constantly ask for updates.

Summery: the US government is trying to act as way to overprotective parents to the entire fucking country.

J and omarsbigsister on TikTok have more info, but right now or if you don’t have TikTok a website called ‘badinternetbills.com’, ‘stopkosa.com’, have ways to call or email your senators, make sure if your a minor to mention your age, it’s not everyday that a minor stands up against the government, so they will know it’s bad, there are also petitions to sign, make sure to sign once, or else it’s fraud.

Updates: hundreds of organizations have stated they do not support KOSA, but senator Ted Cruz had went to San Antonio, TX, and spoke with KOSA, which is bad, some parents are blaming their childrens sewerslide on social media, an exact quote from Ted Cruz is ‘this bill needs to be passed ASAP’. Currently this bill will be moved to the senate floor to be voted on in September, I currently have no official date. I will keep you guys updated.

this bill will quite literally take away my chance to make social media a career. As a minor in the US I need everyone no matter if your not in the US to help against KOSA.

as a minor in the US I am terrified for my life, social media is a safe space for me, so seriously, stop fucking sitting around saying this isn’t gonna pass and get the fuck up and help fight against this damn bill.

DO NOT BE AFRAID TO CALL OR EMAIL YOUR SENATORS!! IF YOU HAVE A SHAKY VOICE OR YOUR NERVOUS THEY WILL UNDERSTAND!! I CALLED AND THEY WERE SUPER NICE, DONT BE AFRAID BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO HELP!!

if any senators/government workers see this: do not support KOSA, I gave reasons why, as a minor in the U.S in a unsafe home I literally need social media to feel like there’s others who understand me, I am a transgender queer minor and this bill with BADLY affect my life and so many other childrens lives, this will also affect EDUCATION, yes education, students will not be able to see the real history of the U.S or let alone anything, keep in mind history is a REQUIRED subject.
