(Keep in mind I'm the first chair player in the flutes section)

am I the only one who gets severely concerned and/or worried when it's objective day or when it's break (fall break, xmas, etc) and the teacher stills allows you to send objectives or is it just me? I have such a big fear of the other flute players moving up in chair sittings and I get moved down; I know I shouldn't care, but it gives me deja vu when it just comes to mind. I feel bad for the other players in my section. 513b55c73b17e_kao_sad.gif

I totally agree- I'm first tenor sax in jazz band, and I kinda feel bad for the other saxophones because some get frustrated with me and dislike me due to my level of experience on tenor sax.. I just feel bad and don't really like the pressure of having solos in every. single. piece. we. play. cryingcrying

i don't think my school or community band had "objective days", but i think the fear of being moved down a chair is a common one with band kids. it's definitely been an anxiety of mine, already have a complex about being less "naturally gifted" than others lmao. (im a percussionist so we don't have chairs in most bands, but our middle school community band did have a similar ranking system. lots of imposter syndrome happened.) (i was in my school's band, a mixed jazz band, and a community band in middle school)
