Question for neurodivergent ppl

Ok so I've heard other neurodivergent people explain that sometimes it feels weird when someone else likes something you really like, but doesn't anyone feel the opposite? Like I feel like I can't get into something or do something someone I know likes because they like it. It's partially because I don't want them to think I am copying them but it still happens sometimes even if the person is trying to get me into it. Just curious if anyone else feels like this too

yeahhhhh, that happens a unfortunate amount of the time. its like I don't want them to think I just copy other people's interest, but im not as into something if they get me into it. it kinda sucks but I can't control it

@io games Yes, it is not uncommon for individuals, both neurodivergent and neurotypical, to experience the hesitation or reluctance you described when it comes to engaging in activities or interests that someone they know already enjoys.

sometimes I get mad when another person gets into an interest I like and I feel like gatekeeping but I usually fight the urge

Edit: what i mean is when someone i dont like gets into an interest i like

Exampl: this one rlly toxic friend at school is into su and it for some reason makes me wanna not like su anymor

Yeah, I feel like this sometimes.... i get really worried that they'll be upset if I get into it as well, because I know that the series/interest is very important to them.

I've come to the mental compromise that when I get into something, I always share it with them, it helps when we both share my exploration into their favs rather than just like... diving into it and eventually infodumping on them LOLZ

if ur scared of "taking" something special from someone u can always ask them about it so that ur indulging your friend in their interest as well! They get to infodump and you get to have an introduction into the series! (of course this is mostly just if ur friend is also ND)
