Why do people head canon?

Like seriously I don't get it. Especially like if it's not your character why are you changing stuff to that character :/ Can someone explain what is so "good" abt head cannoning? Because I have no idea what's so good about like seriously

umm... its fun to do? its mostly just like... stuff you think the character would do, like say you watch my little pony and you think pinkie pie would like making silly earrings and wearing them, its like that.

thats probably not the best explanation but theres really no harm in headcanoning, its just for fun.
