i think being aware of politics is actually a good thing and being apolitical is def a privilege when things dont affect you. im not really sure why they dislike it though, bc my whole friend group is alt of a sort but we are heavily aware of politics. i hope you find people to talk to!

everytime i try and talk politics w someone they fr shut me down and argue w me rather than actually trying to listin to me and i listen to them yk?

but the point of being alternative, one of the reason the scene started in the first place was to give a collective fuck you to society and its standards. Being alternative is rooted in politics its just that with the internet in the mix now you have a bunch of kids who try and be part of the scene for the fashion and the fashion is the least important part. It is about the politics and the music and the cloths are optional. It is a well known fact that if you support the oppressions of anyone in any way YOU CAN NOT BE ALT, you can claim to be, you can dress like it, you can love the music, but you can't be alt at all in any way shape or form if you support any kind of oppressions. That is the whole point. I'm sorry that your view of it has been tainted but politics is the basis of the alternative community

@Mush_bRainz: No its fine i like arguing 2!! i think we are most likely going to disagree anyways because i got into scene culture through music and nostalgia!!! though yes i 100% being scene is a big fluff u to the norm. I disagree on the part that people are not alt if they dont part take in the political aspect. I feel like being alt is just part-taking in a culture that isnt basic shitttt y'know?? I DO agree on the fact that a big part of the alt community is just "hey we can dress how we want, not how ya want us to". They can support oppressive shit and still be called alt but its very contradictory to the whole reason the alt stuff exploded in the first place. You don't need to be a certain way to call yourself alt tho, You just do it and its fine. I do hope people in the alternitive community do have opinions on that kind of stuff but not all of them have to. does that make sense?? please tell me if im not making sense, im tired lol XD les just agree to disagree because we both have very different opinons on what being alt even is lol hope ya have a gud night and im going to bedzo!!

TLDR; Being alt isnt abt ur opinons, its the fact that you aren't part of a socialtal norm, which can be linked back to its anarchist uprooting but you can agree with that sentiment for one thing but not another (agreeing with that statement for example, way of speaking but NOT for how we should run things). Not saying thats a gud way of thinking but you can and still be alt imo
