@cornholio: i kinda agree.

turning white characters into another race isnt bad because like i said people do that to feel represented. theres barely good representation of poc in media and if it is, sometimes it is very stereotyped so...yea i dont think blackwashing is wrong

now itd be different if someone black washed, for example, an asian character or a latino character since thatd be erasing another minority

for me its jsut another headcannon, its not cannon per say, it dosnt negitivly impact anyone, but it connects you to the charecters, whether you are POC or not, head cannons hurt no one <3

everyone is going to imagine charecters diffrently from books to cartoons expecialy if they have diffrent medias that they aprere in, like marvel comics to the movies

making a poc charceter fully white is diffrent as it is taking away an already small group across all media, and ingenral incensitive as it follows the history of non white people and cultures being forced to stop their cultral practisises, native language and colonisation as whole, and thats the main point that comes with white washing, not giving a 'special pass' to poc like some odd people on twitter seem to belive

this is diffrent than hcing a charecter to be mixed and/ or taking more charecteristics from a lighter or caucasian parent, as all people with ( for example) with one white parent and one black parent will all be difrent shades, non being 'wrong' or too this or too that. just how genetics work.

turning white characters into POC is okay!!(imo) i actually love it when ppl do that (liek in the little mermaid) but don’t turn POC ppl white bc i find that offensive (and know lots POC that find it offensive too)

(btw i am white so i don’t rly have that much experience with this subject but am close w ppl that do!! hope this helped
