I dont agree with there selling of Kandi, In my opinion anytime they see something getting popular they try to make money off of it, its a sad fact but there will always be businesses trying to make money off things that get popular.

At hot topic, they just want to show people new things. And of course they make money off it. It's just their way of things. Don't let it bother you

Hot Topic has been selling "kandi" for years, it bugs me a little, but that's the whole premise of the store really. they sell, 'hot topics' they sell whats popular at them moment, right now that happens to include kandi, and other typical rave attire stuffs. lol I actually have a funny story about this though. I've worked in spencers gifts off an on for a couple years and have become really good friends with other mall employees just from seeing them around including one of the managers from the hot topic in the same mall (his names Matt) one day I stopped in to say hello and I just see Matt frantically picking up a bunch of beads off the ground and swearing left and right. I asked him what happened and he told me a bunch of "kandi kids" came running in the store with scissors and said "FUCK YOU GUYS THIS ISN'T PLUR. YOU CAN'T MAKE MONEY OFF LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP" or something along those lines. and then proceded to cut every single 'kandi' bracelet in the store and run away before mall security could be called. I admit at first, I kinda cheered a bit in my head, but then I realized that was literally the most un-PLUR thing I have ever seen anyone do. Those kids made Matts day miserable. he had to call in loss prevention and get bitched at while I was still standing there helping him pick up beads. Loss prevention ended up telling him to bag the beads and try to pass them off as "kandi kits" at half price, there were at least 20 or so bracelets priced at $8 a pop, and they refused to lose $160 entirely over some punk ass kids. I actually ended up buying a few of those faulty bead kits just to be nice and I reused the beads to make something for Matt ^_^

I Hate to Say it, but Our rave way of life is being stolen. All pop music is basically EDM Now. Pretty soon everyone will be raving. Be able to buy Kandi is the begining. crying crying crying crying

Wow N00dle, that is ridiculous. Were they really too blind to see that what they were doing wasn't PLUR either? Plus it's not like the workers at the stores are responsible for the products. All they were doing was ruining someone's (Matt's) day. I would be embarrassed to associate myself with those people.

unfortunately I didn't see the kids myself, I came in right after it happened and just saw him picking up beads lol. but if I had been there for that I'd have a few words to say to them. I completely agree Crumpet.

spencers and calirs also sell it now. Spencers "kandi" looks a hell of a lot better than hottopic's sad attempt. I don't like it either but there's not much we can do except not buy it.

Someone told me a few kandi kids stood outside Hot Topic with a bowl of singles and handed them out for free to everyone who was going in the store, telling them not to buy the "kandi" they were selling inside.
