What happened to PLUR?

I'm just speaking from personal experience. But I have some ex-friends irl who are ravers and when they found out that I make kandi but I'm a non-raver they started treating me badly because of it. I understand the meaning of kandi, I live my life by PLUR, I don't claim to know everything. The only difference between me and them is that because of my current circumstances I can't afford the $500 and 10 hours of travel it will take for me to get to raves. I'm going to move away soon and I will start raving when I do, I just can't right now. I'm just curious as to why some (NOT ALL) ravers look down on non-ravers who make kandi. It never ceases to confuse me.

people are dumb. haha that's all i can tell you. just keep plur alive and be sure to be honest with people if they ask whether or not you've been to a rave before because personally, i don't mind if non-ravers make kandi until they start lying about whether or not they go to raves.

and really kandi has been around forever, even b4 raves. it was bead craft. but to me kandi is a rave thing. outside of that its epic crafts and freindship beads. plur and kandi were 2 dif things back in the day. and i doubt many ppl know the origin of plur or the origin of trading kandi. if u did u might understand y "kandi" is more of a rave thing lol

plur died when; kiddos started going to parties for drugs and "getting fucked up" instead of going for the music kiddos started making kandi outta a fad instead of learning at a rave. u dont really know and quite cant get it til u have experienced the culture. ur not gonna read up on laws and then call urself a lwayer right?! kiddos brought the whole "click" vibe from high school into the scene if ur plur b so, what others do and say shouldnt bother u at that point. when u start tryna impress ppl, fit in, follow labels u loose sight of things. b who u are regardless though ^.^

I had a similar incident recently. I was walking down a street with my elbows full during this art show we have every first friday of a month downtown(called First Fridays... go figure). Anyways, I was walking and a group of like 20-somethings pulled me off the sidewalk and asked me where I got all my kandi. I told them I got some in mail trades, and some at raves(almost all of my singles are from rave trades). And they laughed and said to me, "Oh, good. Because if you said you didn't get any of those at raves, I would have ripped them all off your arms". I almost shit my pants. These guys were old-school, VERY old school. However, they were drunk, and I gave them some kandi and walked away. I know what you mean. Some of the old-schoolers are turning into rotten people. What happened to PLUR?

P.L.U.R is my main rule. I dont go to raves either im too young I just turned fifteen. Make Kandi because you like it, I love making Kandi. I dont make out to be a raver or a know-it-all I just enjoy making and waring my Kandi and thats what being a Kandi Kid should be if it makes you happy do it. I dont make Kandi too sell it I make it because I like to ware them and I like being creative. Sure I'll go to raves one day when I'm older but right now I'm just sticking with making my Kandi and following The P.L.U.R meaning <3

First things first, people have no right to judge. Secondly, people who judge obviously did not do there research. A lack of knowledge is what results in many forms, one such as your friends treating you badly. They don't know that Kandi or how most people that don't know the Kandi culture would call it, phony beads, was first a craft. Go to any craft store and I garante that is where most or at least some people get there kandi. From personal experience, I fell in love with Phony beads in 1999. I later learned the culture. So my opinion is don't pay attention to haters. Its something found under Arts and Craft. Never did it say on the bag of Phony beads that I had to be a raver. PLURR comes along with the Kandi Kid Culture so if they have problem maybe they should be making a self examination. Ravers uphold PLURR to right? In conclusion, do what makes you happy, Kandi makes me happy, so it doesn't matter if I am not a raver. Cheers!

Kandi Kids can primarily trace their style of fashion to the late 1980s culture and the "Summer of Love" in the United Kingdom. Fashion in clubs at the time were primarily day-glo colored attire, smiley face clothing (fashion also attributed to Acid House and the corresponding movement) and whistles. (i know wiki is not the best place for knowledge but this does make sense)

I know exaclty what you mean, as soon as i joined this site i was harrased by somemone because i don't rave. I'm too young to Rave atm, and even if i was oer 18, my parents would kill me if I went to a rave on my own. In my family, a rave would be a one off thing with a CRAP TON of my friends, but I still want to make "Beaded Bracelets". Why does Raving really matter if you at least make Kandi for the right reasons and still trade with people, just not at a party? :/

What if I told you ravers didn't create kandi?
