is a foam party considered a rave?

I might be going to a foam party next week, and i'd like to count it as my first rave, but I have no idea what makes a rave a rave. If it has electronic music, lights, lasers, and possibly a few kandi kids (the few we have out here) is it a rave? Some of my friends say yes, some say no. I'm so cunfuzzled. somebody plz help me
