ive been singing in secret for a good long while...a few years maybe?? for the first time ever i recorded myself singing to my Folie a Deux vinyl bc i was home alone and when i watched it over it sounded like i was just yelling some of the high notes were really good (i had to pull my volume back to hit them) but it was like 2 minutes worth of impressive stuff out of a 1HR40MIN VIDEO if it helps i was singing rlly loud. i didnt feel any strain at all...maybe a bit of a raspy/dry throat at the end of it?? what happened???? i was sipping on water between songs thruout the whole thing too!! i genuinely thought i ate it tf up while i was recording but watching it over......bruh i didnt even attend the dinner wtf not only that but at the start of the album I WAS SINGING IN A BRITISH ACCENT???? IM AMERICAN and so is Patrick Stump.....so i cant even say i accidentally immitated his accent it sounds really smooth and good when i sing quietly but loud...what i presume to be belting ???/ !!!!!!! ????? ... :/ unless im belting too hard and its turning into yelling. i picked FaD specifically because that album (to me) has clear, steady vocals in a range that im able to hit. its one of my "Vocal Albums" that i use for singing/vocal training and its worked in the past.
i breathe from my diaphragm (?) and i dont rlly force my air out...if that makes sense?? it comes out easily and i just manipulate the notes. i think my breathing is pretty good. i can hold a steady belt note for ~10 seconds but bc im out of key it sounds like GARBAGE.
when i was recording it i definitely thought i was in the right key because i SOUNDED in key but listening over......oof i dont think its humanly possible to be more out of key than whatever tf i was..
if im yelling instead of belting properly then how do i find my normal belt volume?? i was standing pretty close to my record player (at max volume) so it makes sense that i was probably screaming over it if i stand too far and i can hear myself i get nervous and start messing up real bad bc i feel like my neighbors can hear me so i tend to stand close enough that it drowns my voice out. how do i belt properly without getting nervous or screaming over my player??
((also slightly unrelated but sometimes when i sing quietly my throat/vocal chords will feel like theyre cramping/straining......why does it happen and how do i stop it???? as far as i can feel im singing the same way......unless theres a sublte difference im not aware of yet?? sometimes i can go for hours straight and other times i cant even make it thru a single chorus.))
help pls!! what does it sound like i did wrong?? i can try to upload parts of the vid at req if im able to somehow block my face out..
any extra advice/tips r also appreciated! feel free to infodump too if you want i cant get vocal lessons so the internet is the best i have :3 ty!
EDIT: I JUST REALIZED I SOMEHOW SOUND LIKE A MALE VERSION OF JOJO SIWA........SOMEBODY K1LL ME PLEASE /HJ
