website lag

idk if this is just me but the amount of ads (at least im assuming thats the cause) makes this website unbearable to use. it lags out anything i have open while this tab is open. its such a pain. ik that crumpet and co have tried to do stuff to fix the ad problem, but theyre are still overwhelming

I think I have about as much disabled right now as I can, ad wise. It has been loading fine for me. We do also sometimes get intermittent server slowness sometimes at peak traffic times, but that wouldn’t be all the time. I think part of it could be that it’s going through two different DNS providers in order to protect the site from hackers and then serve the ads. You can never reach the site directly. It has to go through these two other servers first.

This ad network is definitely still a constant problem even if it might not be the cause of the lag. I am still looking around for alternatives but it’s difficult to get accepted when you have low traffic (compared to big sites) and have user-generated content. The good networks just completely blank me.

What web browser are you using, by the way? I wonder if I can replicate it

I mainly use this site on a 6-year-old Chromebook and it lags like all hell trying to load all the ads, but I've also accessed it on my iPad before, and from what I remember, it worked relatively well, no outrageous load times. So like some others have said, it very well may be your device or connection that's giving you problems.

it doesnt lag for me when im using my phone or computer, perhaps it could be smth else?? not saying its not bcuz of this site but it very well could be bcuz of some other site, or ur wifi
