Do you guys think that PE/Gym class should have a grade?

This has been a topic a few of my friends and I have been coming back to and I want to see what people on here think. (we don't think it should because people can have health problems and other related issues)

for performance, no, that would be rude,

for effort, yes.

with the exeption of those who have medical problems.

Yes and no. You should be graded for things like tests and whatnot and actually try a bit but you shouldnt be tested for physical activity if your not capable of it

no. gym class was really overwhelming for me as a young kid (bc autism. for example it was hard to play organized games like dodgeball because i was overwhelmed by the noise/instructions and i was scared of being hit by the ball) + i wasnt able to physically do a lot of activities either because i got really tired and would injure myself a lot (i twisted my ankles A LOT, usually in gym. i lost count of how many times i did this in elementary school but it was. more than most kids)

when i was junior high you got the option to either do a school sponsored sport OR to do off campus p.e. (i did taekwondo because my school obviously didnt teach taekwondo.). im not very good at taekwondo (martial arts are HARD) but it was better at least bc one of my instructors modified the class for me

No just because you can' t do a sport or run long distance doesn't meant that you aren't healthy or "FIT"

yes but it shoudlnt be a core class, im not gonna struggle to find a job if i cant do a pull up but some form of physical education should be required for ablebodied students, you should be able to pick the form of education class liek any other elective and not jsut have one course since all bodies work diffrently and require diffrent exersizes, a core class? no but as a elective absolutley but there should be expections for disabled children/children with breathing conditions etc....not fat kids tho people say that alot not fat kids they should do pe too . tldr shpuldnt be a core but shuld be a required extra ciricular, if you physically are unable there should be expections as there are in core class pe, technically you CAN make disability curated pe classes but i mean realistically tehy wont so ill jsut settle for saying there should be expections

yes but only if pe classes were split based on physical ability/skills (which would be found out based on participation in sports/grades)

after all, if schools can split academic class like this, why not have gym classes where everyone is on the same level??

No, not really. also i feel like it should be more of an elective than a required class? Or, only make it required for one year, then the rest of the time you're at that school it's optional. Most of what I did in my PE classes both this year and last year was just pay dumb sports and run around the gym for 12 minutes (that was painful even if i just speedwalked..) We did do some learning about like muscles and cardiovascular stuff, butttttt i feel like those things could just be taught in health? if not, they could still be talked about in PE but, again, PE should only be s required class for one year then an elective for the rest of the time you're at that school

NO!!! i hated pe so much bcuz of my assh0le classmates,, they can rlly affect ur performance and its just for fair. I didnt even participate half of the time and the teacher told me i'd have to re do the year again if i failed pe class which is complete and utterly stupid,, i ended up not failing so yay
