I dont get it, what does it mean?

And why do it?

Kinning a character is when you feel like a character is just like you and you can relate to them. I kin squidward

I will try to explain best I can!!
Im a kin of a few characters (meaning I believe I was these characters in a past life, thats not how it is for every person who kins characters, but I personally believe in that)

I also syn a few characters! (meaning I just heavily relate to them, but do not believe I was them in a past life or have any spiritual connection to them and stuff)

okay so- i do not kin myself (however i do syn, which ill explain in a sec), but there's generally different definitions depending on who you ask. going off my experience interacting with people in this particular community:

"kinning" is basically the belief that you were a character in a past life. that's pretty much it. you may also hear just simply relating to a character be referred to as "kinning", but you're really supposed to use "syn" or "synpath" for that in order to separate the two because they aren't the same thing

for example: i syn strelitzia from khux, but i don't "kin" her (someone else out there very well might though) /info

it is when you relate to a character, some people will say that its when you believe you ARE that character but thats not true
