what happens when someone calls cps?/genq

so i'm kinda thinking i should after everything that has happened with me and my family and last night was the last straw and i just want to know what happens after making a call to cps or telling a counselor, i just really don't wanna go to a foster house and ive heard about kinship family or smth? like you can live with someone you trust? so ya i just want to confirm if thats true or not and what i should do

( i made this post because i just realized its not only affecting me but its also effecting my brother mentally, they don't hurt him but them hurting me makes him scared and stressed and i don't want that to happen to him anymore.)

i also live in an area that doesn't need video evidence or whatever becuase most kids can't get evidence

After they receive a report, they start investigations, which might be as simple as taking to a parent or as complex as a full investigation involving neighbors. It is required by law that CPS responds to a report within 72 hours. They may try to meet the entire family, or they can meet the child alone.
