@vampirefir: i am so jealous rn!! i lost my hot fuss CD. i think my friend stole it. ( soon im gonna ask my grandma if we can go to FYE or something so i can get a replacement and more of their music.

OOPS so sorry clyde infestation if that's an entire wall of text. IDK if you use mobile or not but if you do good luck lmao. I'm on a laptop right now so it works ok for me. If you want, I could also write out a simpler step by step thing of how I did it @clyde_infestation

@clyde_infestation: I use a cassette recorder! You can pick up good ones on eBay for about $20-37 USD. You'll also need a cassette tape you can record to, those are sold on Amazon or other places (some regular stores also sell them from what I've heard/seen)
Then you need to use a 3.5mm male to male audio cord (you know headphone jacks? those pointy things but one on each end lol) and put it into the microphone bit of the recorder. make sure your audio out (from laptop, cd player, mp3 player, basically anything with said 3.5mm jack) is set to the wire that's going into your recorder. Press RECORD and PLAY (? and ?) at the same time on the recorder, wait a bit so the cassette tape gets to the magnetic part (otherwise you'll be trying to record on the not-recordable plastic strip!) and then press PLAY on the thing your audio is coming from! when the audio stops, stop (?) your recorder and fast forward ? to the end of the tape then press stop again. eject (often the same as stop, or the ? button) and flip the tape over, then repeat for the other side.
As for the mix, I just made a playlist in my music player (i use MusicBee) and ordered it how I wanted it and used that as my audio. I have some aux cords that came with my wireless headphones so I used those to be LINE OUT from my computer into the MIC on the recorder

@squeee: You can pick up cheap/medium quality players online, newer ones will play okay but NOT RECORD WELL. Or go to a secondhand store and they should have some tape players. And yeah, the physical/tactile aspect is largely why I decided to start doing mixtapes! I have dissociation issues and physically manipulating the tapes and buttons on players helps me a bunch

you just reminded me i stole my dad's beastie boys paul's boutique cassette to look at it but i don't think we have a player in the house rn... damn. theres something so much better about physically owning music and i think what youre doing now is super awesome and unique. we might not like the same music but yo if you do more share it lol
