@xXToasted_TreasureXx: also chunky highlights, the chunky and sloppy bangs and layers, the "just woke up" beadhead look!

Go thrifting and don't look for stuff that's "scene" look for 2000s stuff bc if you want to look scene and not scenecore you have to go for the authentic stuff. Sometimes less is more, remember that! (Not to diss scenecore people, they are super cute in their own right!!) also like what you like? If u like a piece of clothing but it isn't "scene" wear it!!! I used to decline clothes I liked bc it wasn't emo enough and that is NOT the way to go! Also if you do eyeliner amazing, that just ain't gonna cut it! Sorry! The shitty globs of eyeliner you put on is part of the look! The side swept hair is a MUST in my opinion and it's nessicary to get that scene look, same with eyeliner. You can pull off scene well without those things but it's pretty hard.

A lot of the fashion includes arm warmers, skelanimals, invader Zim, hair bows, thigh high socks, bright colors. Just experiment with what you like, and make it your own. There's no rigid rules to follow awesome1

Look at fashion pieces you like, put your own spin on them. Scene stuff tends to include some bright colours and/or shiny/sparkly stuff. Browsing through tags on tumblr or flickr might help you get an idea of some common clothing pieces/styles. Acidmilk on YouTube is also a good starting point, she does some thrifting and tutorial videos as well.

For makeup, searching for YouTube tutorials before 2013 might help you, so you get the OG stuff.

bright colours

animal prints (leopard, zebra, tiger)

cartoon sort of aesthetic (invader zim, domo kun, sanrio, gloomy bear, happy bunny)

very significant hair or makeup or accessories

band shirts

those knee high converse

definitely hit up thrift stores, hottopic is still good sometimes, but they do alot of e-kid stuff
