mp3s on spotify

I just figured out I can add songs on spotify by downloading them as mp3s

I, as a joke, made a nightcore song of a schlatt AI cover (cuz the cover was of a song I actually rlly liked in nightcore), and I wanted to listen to it not just on youtube. I was confused when one of the options allowed me to open it with spotify???

This has changed my life and if you didn't know, now u know and can do it too >:333

just wanted to share >:]]]

When I found this out I was so embarrassed. I had been listening to my MP3s thru samsung music for SO LONG.

There are also ways to do this with phones. The iOS way is, if I'm remembering properly from looking at a tutorial a while ago, more complicated than the Android way. It involves syncing iTunes on a computer with iTunes on a phone. From there there's a setting in the Spotify app to use local files, it will look in iTunes or something.
NOTE: I have not done this myself, i just helped a friend with some parts of it while also rambling about other stuff lol.

Android I'm pretty sure you just select the folders but again I haven't done this.
