i am in this group chat, where i used to be mean in, as a joke, but then i stopped because people kindly asked. recently, me and my friend argued about how your supposed to say hokey pokey or hokey cokey, which i believe hokey pokey. i asked more of my friends and tallied down tics so i could count the people who say hokey pokey. this friend of mine, same one as before, said that i should shut up about it. i said to them, "Please do not be so rude." and they just said no. it made me mad and angry, as someone who cries easily and get bothered by rude things easily. i am pretty silly, and when people tell me to shut up, it makes me not want to be as silly as i usually am. it would be nice if you guys could give me some support.beating heartcryingthis might be funny or stupid to some people, please do not make fun of me or others.

@buxleykandi_: So idk what ur confused by, but i''ll try my best because im not the best explainer. me and my friend were joking about whether you say hokey pokey or hokey cokey. i tried to tally down the numbers of people who thought it was hokey pokey, thinking it was funny, when i texted it to my group chat and she ( the friend ) said to shut up in a rude way.

Im so sorry that happened! I dont think that that’s funny or stupid! Im very very sensitive and one time so much mean stuff had built up and I started to believe it, and this made me extremely sad. I talked to my friends about how some of the mean jokes they were saying actually genuinely hurt me and I’m all better now!

Honestly, even though you may view this differently, it seems honestly like a pointless argument. While, yes, it can be annoying, does it really matter? It's not worth losing a friend. On the other hand, if they stop being friends with you because of a battle of pronunciation, they weren't worth being a friend with anyway. Also, the sevarity of this can be affected if either of you are on the spectrum or just generally have issues with social cues because you both might not be upset with eachother and people might've not been able to differentiate your playful meaness and actual anger

@Phosfate: i totally agree.. it's like i know there's hokey pokey, hokey cokey, and hokey tokey, but there's no reason to say those things to me!!sad2

They're both correct, describing the same dance, though hokey cokey is more of a Britishism, older, and possibly derived from hocus-pocus. That is no reason, however, to be a dickweed to you. lovecolors
