So firstly, what is otherkin? from what i've heard it's someone who's gender identity can be explained by animals?

If my impression is correct, how do you know you're otherkin? I'm wondering because I love being referred to as a "golden retriever" and it even makes me euphoric in a way. I love being pet and being referred to as a "puppy". I have no idea why and i'm not saying I think I am a golden retriever but in a way I feel my gender is strongly connected to them.

I think people can identify as otherkin in different ways. Like I feel a very strong connection to dogs and I like being called "puppy", being pet, and wearing collars/tails/ears. I often think I "identify as a dog" (not literally). Tho I don't identify as an animal spiritually or in a gender way. Tho I know of people who DO identify as an animal spiritually or in a gender way! I think it's up to how you feel. Tho I think if its a gender way it's more related to xenogenders than otherkin but I'm not sure

@LoveLy_ScoTTy: it is not, otherkin/therian and neogenders/xenogenders are completely different things lol. it's a very odd piece of misinformation.

this is the otherkin wiki, it explains otherkin and other nonhuman and alterhuman identities very well. identifying as or with dogs would be a form of therian, but the experience you describe would simply be that of a xenogender one, which has absolutely nothing to do with otherkin, and otherkin has absolutely nothing to do with it (unless your experiences are intertwined of course, lots of peoples' are, but inherently they are not linked). i'd recommend looking into pupgender, pupgoldic, or auretigender if it turns out you are, in fact, nonhuman or alterhuman. (also if you wanna look into other neogenders of the sort, the lgbtqia wiki has a pretty long xenogender category and tumblr has a lot of people who coin their own neogenders, so looking up the tags "mogai + [x thing]" there will probably bring up at least one result. the xenogendersandmore reddit is also pretty good, and lots of folks find this kinda stuff on pinterest, but both of those can be a bit finicky in their own rights, so i prefer tumblr personally). hope this helps!

for example my "kins" are long furbies, peepys, biblically accurate angels nd cryptid thingies, and memey things like my little character i made on ibispaint called goober

you are correct, but it can also be someone who feels their identity is strongly connected to animals/ comfort items/ characters/ etc
