i feel like they could have been better friends if walt wasn't just so. demanding and controlling. yknow?? like half the show it's super obvious he doesn't know the half of it about his life and walt doesn't know the other half of what exists that's bad in the world, but walt still treats him like he's stupid while he's barely holding on. most of walt's blowups are byproducts of issues he's created, jesse was just doin his best

idk if you've finished it, but I do appreciate the work he put in toward the end of the show, proving he still cared about jesse even after the last catastrophes began to hit

i think they're great foils! jesse helps highlight walt's increasing manipulativeness and agression by contrasting it with his more timid (in comparison) personality, and walt in turn makes jesse even more of a sympathetic character. breaking bad is a good show
