Is it ok to give yourself a rave name?

Me and my friends were talking about this while we were making kandi the other day and I just wanted to know. I heard that friends give it to you on the west coast and you name yourself on the east coast but I'm not sure how true that is, help?

I know people from all over and it's generally agreed upon that your rave name is given to you. It's supposed to be based on your personality or your appearance. Also if you don't rave you don't need a rave name...where would you use it? XD That's something I see often.

I've never heard about the west coast/east coast difference before, but then again I've never lived on the east coast. It's true that people on the west coast are named by other people though, at least in the areas where I went to parties.

Mine was a name I'd given myself, that kind of stuck. My name is very hard for the barista at Starbucks to spell (Michaela, pronounced Mi-kayla) and so was a friend of mine who always went to get coffee with me, so whenever we ordered, I would say my name was Momo, and he would say his name was Joey. Some of my raver friends and I went for coffee, and heard me tell the barista that my name was Momo out of habit, and I told them the story and they decided to call me Momo. I think it's okay for you to give yourself one, or if you know an old school raver, ask them to help you. I think you and your friends should help think of names to give each other if you don't have one already happy that way, you were given your rave name!
