@boyyzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz: Exactly! Personally, I see it as you wouldn't fight that hard to stay friends with someone who spouted that in real life, so why are literal grown men on the internet any different. There are a million other content creators out there that you can find to fill the void but you also have to learn to understand that they are just that, content creators that don't even know you exist.

“it’s so easy” and “it’s harder than it seems” is both valid takes! The reason why is because people use content creators for different reasons and have different attachments. I’m my personal opinion it SHOULD be that easy. If a content creator is a disgusting person you SHOULD immediately dislike them. It’s like a toxic friend, once they do some toxic shit you should hate them but sometimes you can’t really escape them.

As a poc all I could ask for is trying. You got deceived and now you have to find an alternative. Which means looking for different coping mechanisms, finding different content creators, dealing with guilt over consuming that media, etc. it’s hard but it shouldn’t be that hard. We shouldn’t have these strong connections to strangers. Strangers that could be doing anything and we would have no idea.

Parasocial relationships are tough but they really shouldn’t exist in the first place and if anything struggling with cutting a content creator out of your life should be a learning experience to never EVER let yourself trust/fully believe a content creator. And if the very same thing happens again to you and you struggle like that again, I fully doubt you were even trying in the first place.

@Gay: i didnt say it was

ive been saying that when you grow up with someone, worshipping them because they're literally all you know, its not easy to give them up. its like if you lose a bio parent that you've only known as a good person, that everyone suddenly tells you to hate. I don't have parents, I have online friends and content creators
