Can we talk about how we treat ppl irl and online? /srs

Let me start by saying that no one here has specifically done anything. This is something that happened irl and it got me thinking.

Just because there is no label, bullying/being a jerk to people with autistic traits for having those traits is not cool. If you ask a question and someone answers, don't get upset for them explaining something unless they're genuinely asking something rude.

I look forward to coming to school to get away from my home life but lately, it's become such a big place of toxicity and I don't have a single safe space anymore. They make fun of me for anything and everything they can, mostly stimming and other very autistic traits I have. Please understand that you don't know what's going on in someone's life. Please just treat people with respect. I try my hardest to get along w/ people so why is it that I (and others) are treated like idiots for having a neurological difference?

It's honestly pathetic. Picking on someone who can't sontrol that.

I dont get it either. I dont understand why they can't mind their own business, and I dont get why they dont like something. They attack it. Ether there scared. Or just stupid.

I agree. It is very pathetic. I used to (still do sometimes) get bullied all the time. Home, school, and even outside of those two. So I can relate. If you need anything, feel free to PM me

The popular girls at school call me it and talk about me like im some otherowrdly creaturesad2they also think im stupid and are always acting nice to me and laughing abt it even when I'm clearly annoyed and want them to stop. Also every kid at my school just uses the word autistic as a fill in for stupid D: it sucks why cant we just be treated like human beings

even if you could control it, they'd likely make fun of you regardless. the hierarchy i've got mentally for dealing with bullies is ignore -> tell a teacher -> tell the principal -> tell a trusted adult outside of the school system ("but they cant do anything!" it's actually more likely for a non-school adult to do something because the education system punishes victims above all else whereas outside of there, it's far more likely for the abusers and bullies to be punished) -> fight back. if for whatever reason you can't retaliate (fear of punishment, physical roadblocks, general morals, etc.) then keep reporting and reporting until the school is fed up with it, and then keep reporting past that point. get some friends to back you up if needed. do not let up until they know about everything that's going on. if you have to, demand that something is done. they have to listen eventually. stay strong out there w03 /gen /npa
