tired of forums becoming social media

i mean this in the nicest way possible, but i'm sick of 13 year olds on this website treating it like a diary or a social media. forums are not the same as social media, this is a KANDI website, not a place to vent about genuinely heavy topics (they literally have a banner saying this before you post a thread) or kin or whatever.

i know there are edge cases of people not being allowed real social media, but this is meant to be a lighthearted site to talk about a specific common interest, not how much you hate your parents or how you want a new partner.

we should be commending kids for reaching out for help. id rather they get advice on their life problems here, over them feel like they have nowhere to turn to. this is a great place for lgbtq+ and neurodivergent people to seek answers from because so much of the user base has that in common with them. when i was 13 i used deviantart as a diary, who cares, its part of growing up online and they wont do it forever.

so far no ones done anything super dangerous, but i do want to caution people against posting information like what city theyre in.

if the site owner had a problem with this there would be rules against it and people would be getting warnings. i understand your frustration, but forum posts on here have categories for a reason, if you dont want to see people talking about random stuff you can easily avoid it.

that's why I like vent posts where it's for everyone to vent and if you don't like seeing vent posts there aren't like 50 instead just one or two for multiple ppl to use. Thats my opinion, I also like the ones where ppl ask if thay can privately message ppl to vent so no one gets triggered or upset yk?

agree :/ a lot of online forums have become obsolete/ closed down for good so it would be nice to keep this one up and at it its kinda like a relic

@The_Cowboy_Lad @CybrBoy: i agree with you both - personally i think chatting about your day is fine, it's when people treat a very public forum like a goddamn dating site or place to talk about how bad your life is that i have a problem.

when i came here this was an escape from normal social media for me, but a big wave of really young people just getting into the community seems to have made it even worse than the likes of tumblr or instagram where you can cater your experience more.

yeah true. Ive vented on here but only when im like rlly mad or sum then i delete it right after, its better to vent/talk abt things other than kandi to ur friends or people. I just dont want the site to die so i usually comment stuff asking abt peoples day and stuff just to get it goin

i have many mixed feelings rn. On one hand, i like this as a moderated forum for kandi and toxicity usually is limited. On the other, theres so much... discourse? I've considered remaking a discord with heavy modding just to clear up but a lot of people are weary. idk anymore really, i want to talk to people but theres really no way to make everyone happy.

i do agree.

venting is good for you, it can help you get bad feelings out, but its probably better to write things down in a doc/journal or ask your friends if you can vent to them. ive seen some genuinely concerning threads, not like "oh... that's not good" concerning but rather "oh geez this person needs to call someone/get professional help asap" concerning

and i will admit: my conscience is not totally clear when it comes to the topic of venting on here. ive made a few vent threads, but i deleted them after a while and i eventually thought "hey maybe this isn't a great idea, people are starting to worry about me" (although my threads never really crossed the line of "school makes me feel like crap" but that still doesnt make it okay) and i started doing other things to vent or just ignored those negative emotions by doing stuff that calms me down (like making kandi, for example).

I agree tbh, although I don’t want this site to die
