typing quirks (rant)

i'm going to say something people might get mad over, but a lot of typing quirks are annoying.

i want to know what you have against using the right letters. why do you use numbers in place of letters? like, i can understand doing it for a username, link, etc, but everytime you type something? do you know how hard that is to read, especially to people who have reading disabilities like myself? what do you have against the letter s?

i can understand people who don't use capital letters. i can understand those who don't use commas unless it's serious. that doesn't mess with reading comprehension and word processing. replacing letters with other characters does.

idk. i don't have anything else to add. i just wanted to rant about this and get it out of my system.

Ya I agree with replacing numbers with letters. I do use things like "Tho" or "ur" because their easier to type out and I guess its become a habit thumbsup

i definitely get it but i just dont read the post if its too difficult, especially cause its not common for someone to use a writing quirk anyways

stop fr i legit cannot stand when people use z instead of s like if someone with a typing quirk was to type my name as "zophia" i would want to die

So i belive in typing quirks are just a fun way of expressing yourself, so if someone has a typing quirk and you can read it, just ask for a translation.

omg the you would’ve hate the scene queens when MySpace was still a thing. Numbers and random characters everywhere. (As someone who has attempted to type like that) scared

speaking as someone who knows how fun it can be to use typing quirks: yeah its a self-expression thing, but a lot of typing quirks are HELL on screen readers and some are even difficult for me to read as someone who got ungodly-obsessed with homestuck and used that fanmade pesterchum client literally every day for like months. the people who brush it off entirely like "oh its not that bad just ask for a translation" sound passive-aggressive at best and entirely callous and dismissive at worst. though i cant speak to the screen reader thing too much since i dont use one so its not really my place

i could go on a whole rant about how the scene/emo subculture is and always has been hostile for disabled people, how genuine concerns from us are either dismissed as being too sensitive or (in the other direction) just the thing we bring up being annoying in general, how that really hasnt changed etc etc but thats not what this thread is for. maybe some day

as much as they dont bother me to much

if theres no translation underneath, i just aint gonna even try to read what the person is typing- because I literally wont be able to

they can be pretty horrid sometimes w17

dude they act sooo rightous and put all sorts of phobics in their dnis then put a little fun and fake discomfort of letters(yall gotta be lying sorry grow up) above people with screenreaders being able to properly navigate around you becuase youre zp3c141 bro is NOT the homestuck grey man

edit: WHY DID YALL DISLIKE THIS LMFAOO OK ITS LITERALLY HYPOCRITICAL TO PUT ABLEISTS DNI IN YOUR BIO AND THEN USE A TYPING QUIRK IM NOT SAYING YOU SHOULDNT TELL PHOBICS TO DNI BUT DONT SAY IT IF YOURE GONNA BE A DIT VERSION OF A PHOBIA
