lps are one of my special interests!!! it’s so cool seeing people starting to collect them laugh

i’d recommend buying pets in lots if you don’t want to spend a ton of money; the price per pet is usually always lower than if you were buying them individually. i got my authentic #58 for about $2 this way (he is a bit blemished, but i was able to clean most of the marks off

going off of the last tip, it’s good to learn how to clean/repair lps!! their necks can get rusty, paint can chip, their heads can pop off, they can get stained, etc. there are videos on youtube for getting stains/rust off, taking heads off/putting them back on, swapping pegs, general cleaning of pets, & more. knowing these can also save you some money, since you can get blemished pets for cheaper & make them look presentable after a little bit of work cheer

try not to rub them against each other too much, since they can get paint scuffs! if you are storing them in a container, be gentle when looking for one unless you’re fine with fixing them up afterwards lol

lastly, fake lps can be both a good or a bad thing. don’t want to spend $100+ on an authentic pet? you can easily find fake ones for less than $10! some are more convincing to others, but they are a good alternative if you don’t care about authenticity. however, they can be a pain if you are looking for an authentic pet only. there are some general tips for spotting fakes, but you kind of have to do it on a specific-pet basis. fakes have gotten more convincing recently & a lot of the old tips to differentiate fake from authentic don’t always work anymore. some things you can look at though are face/body shape, eyes, neck peg, & if they have a magnet/what type of magnet. compare the pet you are buying to one you know is authentic, & see if the features are the same. i can go into more detail about this if you’d like!!

feel free to message me if you have any other questions/want more tips! raccoon
