does anyone else have Scene styled hair? What are the pros and cons of it? Cuz im gonna get my hair done soon and I’m thinking about trying it out. I can’t color my hair but would it look good with highlights? Also can you wear ponytails n stuff with all the layers? Thnx 5148ae078a7ec_dog06.gif

@dragongrl: personally, i think this kinda hairstyle looks good on any face shape!! i have friends with scene/emo fringes that have super angular faces, while i have a rlly round face shape. i genuinely think that anyone can pull it off if they wanna cheer

@CARY_COMBUSTION: Thank you! This is super helpful cheer

I'm not going to do anything much like coloring it or spiking it up or stuff like that so i think i may not need the hair gel... I think it looks awesome when people do a lot of cool stuff with their hair tho, it's literally art and i love it! I'm just not brave enough yet

Im going for more of a simpler scene hair kinda, with maybe some highlights. I have some hairspray, a straightener, and heat protectant spray already so i feel like im on track!

heres a list!

warning: scene hair takes a lot of work and time to do, depending on what you are trying to do. make it big/backcomb, straighten, crimp, etc. id reccomend waking up an hour before you normally do if you can, to have enough time to do your hair. also, try to see a professional/someone with good experience with the cut. supercuts or any other budget place isnt the greatest option, but you could make it work if you cant afford a professional.

also, look up tutorials!! super helpful for beginners.

pros: all of the work is very rewarding once you finish it lol, works well with highlights or dye, layers can be really easily added / maintained by yourself.

cons: depending on what type of bangs you have/are getting theres a possibility that it not work well if you arent styling your hair one day, takes a long ass time to do, products can get expensive in the long run.

products id ABSOLUTELY reccomend:

- straightener or crimper (if you want to add crimps, crimped layers dont work for everyone but they look cute!)

- hair sprayyy. dont use it as a setting spray, but i always use it in my bangs and layers because spraying an area before backcombing makes it bigger! and be conservative with it and go in turns. better to spray not enough than too much in one spot.

-hair gel if you want to add spikes or add a firmer hold.

-setting spray. my beloved.

-heat protectant. absolute life saver loll

@kipippy: Thanks for your input! I think the style looks super adorable and, especially with hair clips, which i've been collecting over time to the point idk what to do with them lol. I also love how anime-like it looks, cuz anime hair is always awesome. Lol and i'll try to cover the eyes in the back of my head laugh

Also are there any particular face shapes that might flatter a choppier/sharper hairstyle like this one?

hello !!! scene hair looks good with literally any color, so im sure highlights will be fine! big grin i just have brown and pink hair SKJSK

and yes! you can still wear ponytails with it ! depends on how long your hair will be, honestly,, but i wear ponytails and pigtails all the time!

although, i wouldnt recommend letting an actual hairdresser cut your hair that way. it most likely will not come out the way you want, plus if you want that choppy scene look youre gonna have to take a razor to your hair and just go at it.. LOL!
and while it looks super cute when styled, it can be really difficult to maintain T_T you will go thru so many cans of hairspray
oh and it takes a lot of teasing and hairspray if you want that big fluffy scene look, but if you dont want anything too glammy then you can just straighten your hair and use a little bit of hairspray to give it some volume! big grin

P.S. : if you do get your hair cut scene, do NOT worry about what the back of your head looks like... it is none of your business /j laugh
