Pattern Approval

Wondering what the general wait time on having a pattern approved is? I know there's a few criteria that a pattern has to meet (i.e. can't be a duplicate of another pattern, must be appropriate, etc.) before it can be approved, but I've had some patterns pending for months, while others get approved within a couple of days, with much less votes. So I guess what I'm asking is if a moderator or admin can give us a run-down on how the whole "pattern approval" thing works. Just so we have a better idea of when to expect our patterns to be in the new arrivals area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. wink

@Art__Junkie: Good question, but unfortunately I honestly don't have the answer to that question. We will have to ask Crumpet. I could search through the other patterns and see if I can find it. All I know is if it was approved then it should show up in your patterns as you said. How long ago was the pattern submitted? I know there was a hard drive crash at one point but I don't know if your pattern was effected by this....? Feel free to share what the pattern was and I will see what I can do.

@TurboBeads: Hey i submitted a pattern that doesnt show in my pending patterns anymore for approval. When i look at all my designs, it shows that design that says not shared. does this mean it was approved? or rejected?

Hey That's a great question, really glad you asked, Ive got a brief answer for you,

Since there isn't an automated pattern approval, Each pattern is picked by hand

So it takes time to go through each one, there are 3000+ patterns to look through, that's 125+ pages of creations.

Here is what I do:

I try to make sure there are a variety of pattern types, of different creators, when the pattern is published it shows up on the front page.

I try to be fair with selections, looking at many things, Votes do get priority most of the time, Sometimes I may see a common theme and publish

those at the same time as well, I think the frequency of a user on the site will a factor in as well, staying active on the site will definitely help bump patterns up in line, I think this might be a great way to encourage others to keep visiting, have their patterns bumped up in line is a great way to reward the ones helping keep all of this alive,

Let me know if there is anything you would like or suggest, and I will see what I can do to make it happen,

hope you get the chance to see your patterns on the front page.
