Anybody else make kandi needles out of weird shit?

Does anybody else do this or just me-

I have a tendency to lose the plastic ones I have so I end up fashioning DIY ones all the time. … My current one is a bobby pin I snipped with wire cutters and wrapped with painters tape. I had one made out of a paper clip before and another from an old earring.

I don't use needles I just push the string through with my fingernail or tweezers...

i tried using just a regular sewing needle but i ended up stabbing myself with it, i still cant find my plastic needle, might try that bobby pin method tho
