i tried to get into sewing before but i was rlly confused and ended up dropping it. i recently found a lil frog plush i made and it inspired me to get into it again! i have a beginner sewing kit that i can use but im not particularly sure where to go from here. i wanna make cute lil plushies with the felt i have and i found a couple patterns on pinterest but i dont really know how to cut them out exactly. any tips on that or just sewing in general? thanks in advance514c877238924_rainbowsmile.gif

I'm gonna recommend the Aranzi Aranzo sewing books, which have super clear photo instructions (you can even use the Japanese editions, they're that clear) and give great results for beginners who do hand sewing. They have instructions for super cute plush, little felt mascots, pencil pouches, totes, etc., and you can find them on ebay for a few bucks used. Titles include but are not limited to Fun Dolls, Cute Stuff, The Cute Book, The Cuter Book, and Cute Dolls. They will tell you what you need and how to use it.

If your sewing kit came with those little black spools of thread, you will want to buy better thread, because that stuff is terrible and will actually affect the quality of your work.

For inexpensive fabric, ask for directions to the remnants section of the fabric store.

It's possible to get good results with felt for certain projects, but you will get much better results with wool felt than with craft felt. Boiled wool felt is the absolute best, which means it's the absolute most expensive and hardest to find.

Another rec is Stupid Sock Creatures, which teaches you how to make bananas sock monsters and doesn't really care if you get soemthing wrong.

omg i do plush commissions so if you ever have any questions feel free to message me!!! :3

I wouldnt recommend using felt for plushies, maybe only for small ones. I personally use fleece! its super beginner friendly and soft, fairly cheap too

As for cutting out patterns, you should be cutting the shape itself, NOT the seam allowance , you only need the seam allowance for sewing machines
