Basically, yeah. After the base 3D cuff is done you look at it and see where the next layer would go. I've never made a UFO cuff but with X base cuffs it's quite easy to see where the next layer goes because you're just connecting the points of the "pyramids" (see my 3D cuff tutorial on here under Kandi Tutorials if you don't know what I mean by a "pyramid").

An epic cuff is just like a tall 3D but with more layers. So you make a tall cuff (normally an X base cuff), turn it into a 3D, and then keep adding more and more 3D layers.
