i have some spider facts!!

so theres two groups of spiders, ones that burrow underground, and ones who spin webs outside. burrowing spiders are a lot bigger and have fangs that point downwards, and their main strength when hunting is to overpower their prey physically. web weaving spiders however, are a lot smaller typically, with horizontal fangs that pinch inwards, and theyre a lot more venomous [spiders by nature are venomous but web spinners more so] because their main strength in hunting is to bite and effectively liquify their preys insides so they can get it that way. because theyre too small to overpower things physically!

another, very silly fact, is that male spiders are much smaller than females, and that females will often eat/kill/attack the male spider after they mate, which has lead male spiders to evolve to jump/run away faster and even incapacitate the female spider long enough to escape with his life, but the funny part is, male spiders have often been recorded in nature going back to the same female that previously tried to kill him multiple times to attempt to mate again. xD..

owls have a third transparent eyelid that they use to stay aware while they're sleeping OvO
Also, dogs lick everything for the same reason snakes flick their tongues; they have a little olfactory (sense of smell) organ on the roof of their mouths. they're not giving you kisses, but they're just trying to make 100% sure that it's you

also cats and most birds can't taste sweet things because they don't need to. also is there a way to spoiler comments? i want to add more to this last fact but im afraid it'll upset people (it involves poisoning)

The anomalocaris (meaning "unusual/strange shrimp") was earth's first apex predator!! It lived during the Cambrian Era around 530-540 million years ago; it wasn't actually a shrimp but belonged to the genus "radiodonta" (meaning "radius tooth," which were similar creatures with circular mouths on the underside of their bodies and has teeth pointing toward the center (it's diet is still debated but it is generally believed it fed on small softbodied creatures)). When it was first discovered its appendages were mistaken for shrimp and its mouth for a jellyfish!! it looks goofy ahh and I wish I could be one, it is hands down my favorite creature of all time. It also inspired the design for the Pokémon Anorith!!

Bees dance to let others know that they've found flowers with lots of nectar! The length and intensity of the dance depend on the distance and amount of flowers tbh jump
