therians who own tails, pls help!

i just bought a real fur tail off etsy (grey fox, my theriotype) and i was wondering if i can get it wet???? its not cheap a$$ poor-quality leather from a chinese fur farm, its ethically sourced, so its good leather. i cant say for 100% certain tho on the quality since it hasn’t arrived yet, but im confident in it since its from a US-based taxidermy/fur shop and they seem to have good reviews.

i cant find much on google or reddit, since most of the advice on fur either doesnt tell me abt water, is only applicable to mounts (like deer heads and stuff) or coats, or is about the actual taxidermy process.

sooo…….can i get it wet?? i dont plan to swim with it or anything, but i would like to know how safe it would be if i wear it around my pool and its swimability, jic. i also like to go outside in the early morning when the ground is slightly wet/dewy. i love lookin at bugs and sh!t so i crouch down a lot, and the tail is probably long enough to touch the wet ground. is this okay????

im mostly worried abt the leather, bc i read on taxidermy forums that if you wet the leather it can become dry and brittle, but the consensus on that seemed to keep changing thread-to-thread.

also how would i wash it??? like i said itll prob be in the dirt a lot (when i do decide to wear it) and it might need to be washed from time to time.

any help is appreciated 5148b8c884aad_wink.gif

I dunno how to wash themm (i dont get mine dirty)

but im assuming you can get them a little wet just not soakedd

and probably dont go into like a pool or anything with chlorine that'd be bad, but im assuming a

small stream or something would be okayy suspicious

Not a therian but a hardcore petre and enjoyer of taxidermy

it depends on the chemicals you have in your pool. I wouldn't reccomend completely submerging it but a little water robably wont hurt it
