I’ve been cosplaying since December 2020 and since then I've improve a lot so here's so thing I wish I knew when i started

  1. Don't worry about looking cannon. All that matters is that ur having fun
  2. You don have to buy super expensive makeup for it to look good. Most of my makeup is either from Amazon or the dollar store
  3. Closet cosplays are just as valid as bought/hand made costumes
  4. Learn how to style wigs. They can make you cosplay so much better
  5. Don't be afraid to try new makeup styles accessories
  6. If your using body paint please seal it properly
  7. NEVER USE SCHOOL SUPLIESE AS MAKEUP!

I probably have more but I can't think of them rn rainbowsmile

iuhh idk its been a while since i cosplayed. and i am NOT a professional by any means these are tips i would think of that would help . i would say

practice makeup. this is going to be important as a lot of cosplayers use this but not everyone does so if u dont wanna then dont.

cheap places to get makeup would be like dollar store, five below stuff (,maybe even amazon) like that maybe wallgreens/CVS if they have certain deals (of course theres walmart and makeup stores but i would assume theyre more expensive.)

dont fuss about looking 100% accurate!! not every cosplayer does and thats completely okay! be confident

take care of your wigs. (if you use them) synthetic wigs are the most popular as real hair wigs are sooo expensive. wigs tend tobe very itchy and scratchy so definitely wear wigcaps and stuff to be more comfy. try to pin them down too so they dont fly off.

try DIYing a lot. cosplays that are made by amazon or proffessional cosplay sites can get soo pricey

youtube tutorials will be your best friend ESPECIALLY if its a popular character

if you need any more tips DM me and im sure i can help out!!

also if you need help with making a character's cosplay i will research them and help you out!!
