what is the thing that got you into the fandom(s) you're in?

i first got into the undertale fandom when i saw a comparison video between the original Stronger Than You (steven universe) and the sans parody one have been in the fandom since 2018 i think? and its now my spinterest :3

as for steven universe, i watched it when i was a kid, a few years later rewatched the entire thing and got more into the fandom :] i dont really remember how i got into other fandoms im in tho lol

currently in the cod: modern warfare(2) fandom and ship art of two of the characters on twt (ghost/soap) got me into it

how i got into my special interest fandoms!! i got into star trek bc of my english teacher in 7th grade. (Love ya mr moore u were great) he would put on a clip from Star Trek 2009 and we would write an essay based on the question he gave us after the clip. it was so cool and now star trek is one of my special interests!

i got into Heroes(2006-2010) bc of Zachary Quinto. He was in Star Trek 2009, star trek into darkness and star trek beyond. i absolutely adore him and so i watched a bunch of other things hes been in!

i got into Escape The Night because i found out MatPat was in s3 (and i LOVE matpat and so i watched s1 and s2 and a couple of eps of s3 ). currently need to go baxck to watching

i got into Glee because im a theater kid and ive wanted to watch glee 4 a while so i started watching and i just finished ep 17 of s1

my brother Jack got gifted a Wii U with splatoon on it, and when I saw him play it, it looked super cool! So then I got his Wii U,started playing splatoon and I’ve been a fan ever since!

uhhhhh this is highly odd but what got me into homestuck was a jade feet pic i kept seeing everywhere..... /srs

for hiveswap my friend sent me a lot of pics of chahut and marvus and i thought they were smexy so i watched a playthrough of iy

and i used to be in the undertale fandom in 2017-19 and what got me into it was those sans fangirl videos (i was one of them.....)

and animal jam and animation memes was the thing that made me a furry

and i like some object shows but it was basically a pipeline where my friend liked bfb and bfdi so i watched those and then tpot and then ii and i kept watching more

I got into fandom wayyyyyy back in fanzine times. (Imagine ao3.com, but it's on paper, costs money to print and mail, and takes a year to come out.) I sent away for a multi-media zine (that would be a fanzine about more than one show/movie, as opposed to all Star Trek or Star Wars or whatever), and when it arrived the editor enclosed a 'seeking contributors' flyer for the next issue, including artists. Traditionally, if you get accepted for a zine, you get a free copy, which was (and still is in the digital age) cheaper than buying it outright. And people will see your work. I looked at the art in the issue I had, and I thought, y'know, I can draw at least as well as the worst stuff in here, the worst that can happen is I get turned down. So I sent the editor some photocopies of stuff I had around, and got in for the next one. And kept drawing.

Undertale - My friend was sittin next to me on the bus and showed me a pic of sans they drew n the internet guided me from there lolz

BTS - Wattpad. X.x (this was back in 2015/16 bear w/ me lolz)

MHA - I just decided to watch it on Hulu n that was it

(somewhat)dsmp - I kept seeing it n figured i had to see what else was there also jschlatt (who logged on liek, 3 times ever lolz)

Fnaf SB - ...Tiktok. when i had it.

MWII/COD MW reboot - I saw fanart on pinterest n the internet guided me from there

Most of the fandoms I got in were shows my siblings or friends recommended. Same with any game I played. I also like checking reviews on certain things to see if I’ll like them or not
