yesterday, there was a car fire in front of my local famous footwear shop (idrk what happened but 513b3952851d7_shrug.gif) anyways, there were fire trucks driving by where i was at, at the time and all of a sudden, i start getting super sensitive to the sound and start crying. when i say crying, i mean bawling my eyes out.

I normally can't hear high pitch sirens but when they get super close i can and it just triggered something

do anyone of you guys know why this happens? or any ideas?

Okay, modern vehicle sirens are deliberately made so you can't really hear them until they're a block or two away, because it makes it easier for other drivers to tell which direction the sound is coming from at intersections. It works really well in general for public safety, but it can also scare some people to death because it's more sudden and loud than they can tolerate. The most important thing in the moment is to be safe and pull over (hit your hazard lights if you can't find a parking lot) until you feel better and can drive. Anyway, it could have been just a bad startle reaction, or some kind of trigger, or a load of possible causes. Once when I was little my sister came up to me in a doorway and started singing, "Oh they don't wear pants/In the southern part of France" and I absolutely lost it sobbing. I am not normally afraid of either my sister or mildly naughty 19th-century songs. If this is the first time it's happened, don't worry about it overly much. If it keeps happening, or if you experience other symptoms like anxiety, talk to your doc about it.

Sometimes you jsut get, trigged. And most of the time is by trauma

I can relate to this, I get triggered by police sirens, firemen sirens, and just sirens in general. And there's many reason why you might get triggered to somethings, because everyone is diffrent
