bandcamp is good-! has some cheaper/more niche music. i also know if you buy cds/vinyl thru amazon you get free mp3s with your purchase. you can also check if amazon music, soundcloud, or itunes is unblocked happy soundcloud also has the option for artists to allow downloads, so you can get some songs for free there too

There are various MIDI (coded instrumentals) downloading sites, but to legally download music without paying for it you'd have to find a YouTube to MP3 converter site. Most of these are full of adverts and/or sneaky redirects. I recommend turning on "ask to download" in browser settings, and making sure the file name ends in .mp3.

An application I use for this is 4kvideodownloader- if you only have a school device you won't be able to install it, but if you can get it you can (for free) download up to 30 youtube mp3 rips per day. Paid, an unlimited amount.

Legally and not free: apple music or iTunes.

Other ideas:

  • flash drive with mp3 files on it from elsewhere (computer w/ 4kvideodownloader, itunes, etc)
  • cheap and/or secondhand mp3 player, files from same as above
    • ebay, craigslist, trademe. make sure returns are allowed and be sure to "background check" (check out the profile/reviews) of the seller (or meet up and ask for a check if craigslist/an in-person pickup deal)
  • discman / cd walkman / portable personal cd player + giant binder of secondhand/cheap CDs (pr burn your own, using above methods)
    • amazon has some decent cd players for 20-30 USD, CDs can be .99-12.50 at secondhand stores depending on popularity and rarity (haha mlp reference)
  • you COULD pirate things i guess. But that's at your own risk and I will not recommend it because I think that would break site rules lmao. also is illegal. If you choose to do this, check the file extension. It should end in .mp3 (or other audio file formats).
  • youtube to mp3 website to download full albums to phone, CLOSE ANY POPUPS, keep the mp3 albums in a folder, use headphones to listen to this through phone.

(I used some HTML/CSS style tools here. only the blue text with green wavy underline is a link
