how would you go about making armor n other complicated props like that, i'm planning on cosplaying as Courier 6 from Fallout New Vegas (specifically with the NCR ranger combat armor) for NDK this year and I don't have the funds to buy pre-made armor n props from etsy or anything like that 513b395250ec8_blush.gif

hihi!! i've been cosplaying since i was 9 - 10, so about three years! i've done a couple cosplays with big props before, and while people are saying cardboard, DO NOT USE CARDBOARD IF YOU WANT TO KEEP IT FOR A LONG TIME.

cardboard can, and will, break down easily. cardboard is good for once or twice uses only, not for props you want to use over and over again, if you're doing a prop you want to use for a long time, use foam and air dry clay !! cardboard is good for bases, or to just get a feel for making props yk? but yes, if you want to make a prop that will last awhile, air dry clay + foam is the way to go!

i'd make the armor out of cardboard, paint it, and then spray it with mod podge

so, armor. I've only made a bit, like prominent pieces for brief use only, however. what i like to do is a combination of thin foam and air dry clay. googly eyes make amazing rivets. spray paint is your friend. mold the foam around your body directly, draw using yourself as the reference. idk what else to say, good luck!! there a lot of tuts on youtube, they are friends

I've heard some people use air dry clay or they mould felt sheets!
