I don't think the beads would fall apart if they got wet, but homemade clay like that can end up being brittle when it's baked. I'd be more worried about your beads cracking or crumbling. If you're looking to make beads or charms, I'd probably recommend using polymer clay. Most craft stores have it in a ton of colors (under the Sculpey or Fimo brand names) and it holds up pretty well once it's baked.

Could you use it? Technically you COULD. However, the thing about clay beads opposed to plastic beads is that they're more fragile and easier to brake. HOWEVER, many people have used clay charms and beads to put on kandi. I mean, I have once. If the clay you bake is hard enough, it could probably work and not break under reasonable circumstances... However, we generally use this clay that you get at michaels that you just form and bake.... we dont actually follow a recipe... yet again, I would assume that if the website says that that recipe will work, that it will work. And I REALLY don't know if it'll fall apart if it gets wet... I'm thinking that if you paint the beads with a waterproof paint and make the coats thickish, it should be fine if it gets wet... Hey, good luck! I havent heard ANYONE with this idea before happy
