How to tell people you are overstimulated??

Like a lot of you on here, I’m on the spectrum. Whenever I get overstimulated I tend to breakdown wich makes people try to comfort me by touching me. How do I tell them to stop touching me, whenever people do this I feel like screaming at them and pushing them away but I think that would be mean 514c8a1da0ce1_w15.gif

ive seen a lot of people on etsy or other websites that will sell pins, or other things such as lanyards, that say things like "i get overstimulated in certain situations", and getting something like that may help you communicate your comfort levels without you having to verbally say so.

maybe talk to them about what to do and boundaries and such when you are not overstimulated!

I use sign to tell people what's wrong! Maybe teach them simple signs like emotions! I taught my friends "Tired" "Sad" "Scared" "Too loud" "I need to leave" "yes" and "no" also I taught them "I'm fine" if I just don't wanna talk, if you want advice learning some signs you can friend and message me and I could give you some good sites! big grin /gen

practice saying what you need before you get overstimulated, so that it’s easier in the moment for you to express yourself. practice saying “please don’t touch me,” as well as solutions for your current problem, “i need some fresh air/i need to take a lap/i need a minute to myself/etc.”

Wear a lanyard or get a pin since it makes talking hard
