posting photos of a bag i made

Clownjuice 9/5/2022 10:39 pm 322

hi i was wondering if anyone knew if i could post pics of a bag i made if i cant get permission from the original pattern(s) creator(s)? i used about 4 patterns in the bag and i was only able to get into contact with 2(ish)* ops, the last one hasnt been online in years and has no alternative forms of contact. I could sensor that part of the bag but that would kind of ruin the reason of posting the bag in the first place

(*one hasnt replied yet but has been online in the past 2 years, and the other hasnt clarified yes or no)

edit: credit is a given bc thats dumb i just need to clarify that

2nd edit: techincally all the patterns are pokemon patterns, not orignals, so i think technically legally i could post the bag with credit but i dont want to break site rules

@scoobydoo: Just to clarify, the patterns themselves can’t be shared in bulk on another site or someone could just make a clone of all the patterns with no credit to anyone, but people are free to use and share them for personal use. I’ve also had websites requers to share about 10-20 before and I allowed that with a link back to the original patterns. People often even sell items made from them, which I say isn’t allowed in case certain pattern creators don’t want that, but it’s not possible for me to investigate every instance so it’s up to the creator to defend if they want to.

You should be fine to post a photo made from someone else’s patterns. If you’re worried, say that you sought credit but couldn’t get it for all patterns. If anyone complains I can take it down, but that’s very unlikely. It has only happened maybe 5 times in the history of the site.

If the patterns were from this site, I'm pretty sure you don't need the creators permission to post them (I think it says something in the t&cs that by posting you consent for them to be kind of open to anyone), as long as youre not profiting of the patterns in any way. it should be fine if you post w/ credit & link the original pattern

edit: all patterns here are under the Creative Commons licence which means that you are completely free to share the patterns (including posting photos) and make things using them as long as no money is involved and you acknowledge the OP
