anyone else have this problem? (fashion related)

so i like to get ideas for accessories/outfits (specifically for alternative fashion) by looking on places like pinterest and also by watching alternative fashion tiktok compilations on youtube, but i find that most channels that do compilations the majority of videos they include aren’t really alternative… they feel like maybe a different makeup style away from just being a standard outfit and i can’t tell if i’ve just been so overexposed to alternative fashion that i can’t tell what’s “normal” and what’s not anymore or if these outfits are actually basi but it’s just really annoying because these outfits aren’t anywhere near the types of clothes i’m looking for. i was just kinda wondering if anyone experienced this as well and had any channel recommendations that have more proper alternative clothing ideas.

tldr: the youtube alternative fashion compilations i can find don’t have ideas for how i want to dress, does anyone have recommendations??

(also, if you wanna know the style of fashion i mean, i have a board on my pinterest which is linked on my profile :])

@linkinpark: yea, idk i mean i don’t think i’d care if they weren’t presenting the video like it would have actual emo fashion in it ya know? if they had said like e-girl/e-boy or y2k or smth it’d be fine but it feels like they’re deliberately trying to make it look like it’s actual emo fashion lol

also the most annoying thing is that the videos are titled stuff like “goth, emo, alternative fashion” and then like three people are dressed goth or emo in the whole thing lmao

@Parx_boys_are_life: yeah, it’s really annoying because i am looking for both goth and emo fashion, but like everything in the videos are all just e-fashion and y2k stuff, but no actual goth or emo stuff despite the creator putting both goth and emo in the title lmaoo

I see this a lot like saying emo and goth are they same, or that emo and efashion are the same.

But if you look up alt diys on YouTube you may find something gives you ideas

I see this problem a lot too, so many people label styles completely incorrectly. I could honestly rant for like hours over the differences in clothing styles and why it's crazy people mix them up lol- as for outfit ideas, maybe just a lot of black with some red/green/purple accents, as well as some chains, chokers, kandi and maybe chunky platform shoes (or combat boots) I wear stuff like that a lot and it looks pretty cool hope this helps!! I'm not good at giving advice but eh-
